Keith Mitchell finished with a pair of birdies Saturday for a 7-under 65 and a one-shot lead going into the final round of the Sanderson Farms Championship.

JACKSON, Miss. — Kevin Yu made a 15-foot birdie on the 18th hole for a 5-under 67, and he birdied it again from 6 feet in a playoff to beat Beau Hossler and win the Sanderson Farms Championship on Sunday for his first PGA Tour title.

Mitchell, a 32-year-old Chattanooga native and former Baylor School and University of Georgia standout, was seeking a second PGA Tour victory to go with his triumph at the Honda Classic in March 2019. He still got his best result on tour since tying for third at the CJ Cup at Summit in October 2021.

Kevin Yu is a PGA Tour winner. The 26-year-old from Chinese Taipei made a birdie on the 72nd hole to tie the lead, then he stuffed his approach on the par-4 18th on the first playoff hole, converted the birdie and knocked off Beau Hossler to get his first PGA Tour victory at the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship.

At stake for Mitchell, a 32-year-old Chattanooga native whose lone PGA Tour victory was more than five years ago, is a chance for the former Baylor School and University of Georgia standout to earn a spot in four premium events on the circuit next year.

Wellesley’s Michael Thorbjornsen finished in a three-way tie for eighth at 19-under overall after a 4-under 68 final round on Sunday, his fourth straight round under par.
