Firefighters in California remain on the scene of a fast-moving blaze fueled by strong winds that burned two homes and damaged several others in a hillside neighborhood in the city of Oakland

PG&E initiated a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) for 159 customers east of Santa Maria on Friday morning. The power was shut off at 8:18 a.m., according to the utility company. PG&E says the action was taken to help prevent a wildfire during a period of high winds and dry weather.

Sonoma and Napa county residents began to see their power shut off early Friday as hot, dry and windy conditions are expected to sweep across the area.
