The effects of Helene touched all parts of our state, including in Rocky Mount leaving a trail of damage and injuries.

The damage near Rocky Mount was caused by a tornado, meteorologists at the National Weather Service confirmed Friday night. A survey team from the NWS’ Raleigh office examined the area of Nash County where damage occurred around 1:30 p.

Some Rocky Mount businesses are boarded up and some of the damaged cars are gone, but the businesses look almost the same as when an EF-3 tornado hit the area last week.

Rocky Mount businesses and residents are continuing to recover after an EF3 tornado that hit Friday as Helene continued to impact North Carolina.
