The Ole Miss Rebels responded to last week's loss in a big way on Saturday, taking down the South Carolina Gamecocks 27-3 on the road and rising to No. 9 in the AP Poll as a result. A big reason that Ole Miss had so much success this week was thanks to its defense.

The Gamecocks were lined up offsides four times — all by different people and all on third down. They were called for offensive pass interference twice. And, in the third quarter, freshman edge Dylan Stewart was flagged for taunting after standing over Ole Miss QB Jaxon Dart and shooting him with an imaginary gun.

South Carolina's missed tackles against Ole Miss, there was weakness in the secondary, and failure to pressure Dart. Against Kentucky Week 2, the defense was exceptional, which meant turnovers, sacks, missed catches on offense weren't that impactful.
