Sanjeev Sanyal, a member of Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, on Sunday said he has accepted the Chancellorship of Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) Pune, 10 days after Bibek Debroy resigned from the post.

Sanyal’s name was under consideration among the Servants Society of India (SSI), which manages GIPE, after Debroy, the chairman of the PM’s Economic Advisory Council, resigned on September 26 in the l

PM. Debroy, who is chairperson of EAC-PM, resigned from GIPE chancellorship last week amid controversy over removal of institute’s V-C Ajit Ranade.

Dr Bibek Debroy, who was appointed Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) chancellor in July, resigned from his position in the last week of September.

Sanjeev Sanyal, a noted economist, author and member of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council (EAC), will be the next Chancellor of the Pune-based Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE). This comes days after Bibek Debroy, the chairman of EAC, resigned from the post of GIPE's chancellor.
