A decorated Atlanta cop was shot and killed by his neighbor during a bizarre break-in on Friday. According to police, Aubree Horton, 32, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds when police responded to his residence after getting a call of an attempted burglary.

Horton also recently won ' Investigator of the Year’ at the department’s annual “Crime is Toast” awards breakfast. Deputies said a video showed Horton “experiencing a mental health episode or under the influence of narcotics attempt [ing] to break into the front door of a residence.
