Tropical Storm Oscar set to track away from Florida
ORLANDO, Fla. - On Monday evening, Tropical Storm Oscar was over Cuba’s eastern coast, bringing strong winds and rain. Oscar was moving toward the north-northwest near 7 mph and a turn toward the north-northeast was expected overnight, followed by a faster northeastward motion on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Hurricane Oscar maintained Category 1 strength as the small hurricane made a second landfall in Cuba Sunday evening.
Oscar was also the eighth named storm to form since Sept. 24, breaking a record for most named storm formations between Sept. 24 and Oct. 19.
Hurricane Oscar is expected to make landfall along Guantanamo or Holguin, Cuba, by Sunday afternoon, forecasters said.
