Geoffrey Noble, a decades-long veteran of the New Jersey State Police, took the helm of the scandal-plagued Massachusetts State Police Friday morning with a pledge to “build and maintain” public trust and deliver “excellent police services.

Geoffrey Noble, formerly the second in command of the New Jersey State Police, takes over the reins of an agency that’s undermined itself for years through a range of scandals, from overtime theft to fraud involving commercial drivers licenses.
